Inclement weather did not preclude family members from attending our Memorial Mass with our butterfly release at New St. Mary Cemetery & Mausoleum on Friday, June 16. Although we had to move our venue from the cemetery to St. Joachim Parish, family members were happy to join us and celebrate Mass for all those laid to rest at New St. Mary Cemetery & Mausoleum. Fr. Walter Norris celebrated Mass at 1:45 PM, especially remembering and praying for those buried in 2022. Although it did appear mother nature would win out, by placing our Blessed Mother statue in the cemetery office window and praying to our Mother our weather changed! Just before Mass began the weather went from stormy and rainy to clearer skies, and we were able to read our poem and release our butterflies!

We, at South Jersey Catholic Cemeteries, not only bury the dead, but also care for the loved ones left behind through prayers and the celebration of Mass. We are delighted that so many families were able to attend. A butterfly, carefully wrapped in an origami envelope, was given to every attendee to be released in honor of their loved one. Our next Mass at New St. Mary Cemetery & Mausoleum will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 10 AM in honor of the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed. Please join us!
